Born in Batroun, North Lebanon, in the fifth of November 1976, Georges
Khabbaz is a Lebanese actor, writer, director, musician, playwright, producer
and theater professor.
Due to the fact that both his parents Georges Khabbaz and Odette Attieh
were actors, Georges was raised in a family that appreciate arts.
He is the eldest of two sisters Lara and Laura, and a brother Nicolas.
After Khabbaz graduated from “Collège des Sœurs des Saints-Cœurs
Batroun”, he enrolled in the Holy Spirit University - Kaslik as a musical
Furthermore, his professional acting career began in the 90s, he performed
in "Ghadat El Camelia” and many others.
During the same decade he participated in many Tv shows,
"Chabab w Banat" series on Disney Channel (1995), drama series "Talbin El Orb" (1998),
"Nisa'a Fi El Asifa" (1997), "Sanabel El Hob" (1999), “Asabe3 Men Zahab" (1996),
and a comedy program “Basmat El Watan" (1997 - 2001).
Thereafter, he acted in some Tv series as "Jamil w Jamileh" (2001-2002), "Ila Yara" (2010),
"Te2riban Osset Hob" (2011) and "Al Kina3" (2013).
2003 was a turning point in his career. He wrote the sitcom “Abdo w Abdo” in which he acted. It was a huge success that inspired lots of people from different backgrounds and ages…
In 2005 he produced, wrote, directed, and performed his first theater play named "Msibe jdideh” with many other actors.
It was a real success that took place in “Château Trianon”, where he found all his fans attending and appreciating this magical project.
Since then, he became the only Lebanese artist who’s able to hold a play for six months, with six shows a week. Due to those achievements, he continued composing theater plays until now. Noting that he writes and composes the soundtracks of each play.
In addition to that, he decided to continue writing and acting in many Tv shows. He wrote “Se3a Bel Ize3a” in 2005, then "Fadi w Radi" in 2006.
Georges Khabbaz has always been passionate about cinema: he started there as an actor in “Under the Bombs" (2007) than "Silina” (2009).
In 2014 he wrote and acted in “Ghadi” (Jury Price in Busan International Film Festival) ... a big achievement, that broke records in all cinemas. The movie has won the 14 international awards and has been dubbed into different languages.
Few months later, he collaborated in writing the film “Waynon” (Best script in Malmo Arab Film Festival).
Khabbaz won the Murex d'Or award several times; the best actor award in Rotterdam Film Festival 2008 for his role in “Under the Bombs”; the best play award for "Kezzeb Kbir" in Festival de Molière - Paris 2007; and many more.
The Lebanese International University awarded him an honorary doctorate (2017).
Recently he participated in writing the well-known Nadine Labaki’s “Capharnaüm” script (Oscar Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year; Golden Globes nominee for Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language; Jury Prize winner in Cannes Film Festival; Best Screenplay in Stockholm Film Festival …)
In 2017, he started collaborating events with two different Lebanese Summer Festivals.
First of all, Ciné-Orchestre was an exceptional show with a huge production presented in Ehdeniyat International Festival, that matches different types of arts. A night to honor cinema and music through live performance plenty of magical surprises, with immortal pieces of music played by the orchestra conducted by Lubnan Baalbaki. In the background, a huge screen presented scenes of known movies. Moreover, this work hosted a group of professional dancers and singers.
Due to the positive results, Ciné-Orchestre II was presented in the summer of 2018.
As well, he performed an exceptional version of his own play “Ella Eza” at the prestigious Baalbeck International Festival in August 2018. Retooled as a musical, “Ella Eza … The musical” included an original touch, composed by Georges Khabbaz, arranged by Lucas Sakr, and played live by an orchestra conducted by Lubnan Baalbaki. More than 10 000 persons attended. It was a huge production, a remarkable comeback of musicals that were played in the iconic Roman Temple of Bacchus.
